Greetings, everyone. Hope you all had a great Fourth of July! Friends, family, cookouts, and fireworks.

All of us have different reasons for doing the GFT, whether it's about setting goals and achieving them, or about knocking down barriers, or about finding your own limits of human endurance, or delaying the onset of a beer gut, or to settle a bar bet, it will be that reason that will get us through these endless summer miles, sweat, hills, and wind.

Also, the time to set up your nutrition plan is now. There is plenty of time to see what works and what doesn't . I'm sure everyone knows better than to experiment on race day.

I'm sorry I did not get to do the Florida Challenge. Plantar fasciitis is gone, but there was still some "residual" in my left foot. I did two half marathons in March, at 2:25 and 2:10. Ouch!! I should be in the 1:30 -1:45 range. It's taking way too long to get back to normal, so I shut it down for awhile.

This past week was week #8 of 24 week plan. Saturday was a 72 mile ride, followed by a 3 mile run. Really hot by the salt stains in my shorts. Sunday was an EASY 8 mile run. Today was a 1 hour swim, followed by a 5.5 mile run. For the run, I'm working on a Survial Shuffle that would make IronPenguin proud(grin!).

 Good luck, everyone!
